England made a great start to the game as they surged ahead with a splendid one-two play between Hillam and Darbyshire. Darbyshire expertly slotted the ball into the net, putting England in the lead at 1-0.

The German team, displaying commendable resolve, managed to create several scoring opportunities, met with equally impressive saves from Clack in the England goal. Despite their efforts, it was Darbyshire who left an indelible mark once more, unleashing a powerful slap shot from outside the box that left the German keeper with no chance, extending England's lead to 2-0.
